This interactive workshop is designed for parents and carers who want to understand AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and learn how to use it effectively in the home environment.
Over two hours, you will:
● Learn what AAC is and the different types available, from simple picture systems to high-tech options
● Understand how AAC can empower your child to communicate, express choices, and participate in family life
● Explore practical strategies to model AAC at home, making it a natural part of daily routines
● Gain tips on supporting communication across different situations, from playtime to mealtimes and school interactions
● Reflect on your child’s strengths and preferences, and create a plan to embed AAC in everyday life
Led by experienced practitioners, this workshop balances theory and practical guidance, leaving parents and carers feeling confident, empowered, and ready to support their child’s communication journey.
