Understanding Autism & Supporting Communication

A practical 2-hour workshop for parents and carers

Have you ever wondered why your child communicates in their own unique way?

Do you find it tricky to know how best to support their understanding and expression?

Would you like practical strategies that make everyday interactions feel easier and more connected?

This workshop is designed for parents and carers who want to deepen their understanding of autism and communication in a supportive and neuro-affirming environment.

Over two hours, we’ll explore:

What autism is — understanding differences, not deficits

Autism and communication — exploring how communication might look different and why

Sensory processing — understanding the sensory world and how it impacts communication and engagement

Practical strategies — simple, evidence-informed tools you can start using straight away to support your child’s communication at home, school and in the community

Led by a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, the session combines clear information with real-life examples and interactive discussion, so you’ll leave feeling more confident, informed, and equipped to support your child’s unique communication journey.
